Trail Stop Brewery featuring Marceline Pizza Company 2 is the culmination of an idea 2 years in the making. Founders William Kinney and Robert Zitsch came together with the idea of creating a place for friends and family to gather over food and drink in Southwest Columbia, MO.

Their vision centered around the simple concept of providing fresh craft beer with wood fired pizza. They joined together with Andrew and Carrie Welsh of Marceline Pizza Company through the simple process of Robert walking in one day to their restaurant and asking if they would be interested in opening a location in Columbia, MO. The four of us worked together to create our vision with indoor eating, outdoor patio space and pickleball courts.

What We Offer

Amazing Beers

Get ready for great beer! Guided by an International Brew master, Trail Stop Brewery will feature fresh craft brewed beer created on sight. Our beers are built on the finest ingredients from all over the world and finished with an added local twist.

Wood Fired Pizza

Skip the preservatives and keep it fresh – that is what makes wood fired pizza better. High temperature with just the right amount of smoke helps retain the nutrients and taste of our fresh toppings.

Fun Wines

Pickleball With Pals

Improve your mood and health, burn calories and make new friends – come play Pickleball. One of the fastest-growing sports in America. Our facilities will feature four lighted courts and a great place to hangout after games.

Meet Our Team

William Kinney

William (Bill) Kinney retired after 27 years from his role as an ear, nose and throat surgeon to pursue a new career starting a brewpub. Bill and his wife Bridgid enjoy the social aspect of entertaining friends with good food and drink and see this next chapter as way to take their joy of entertaining to the next level. Bill has been homebrewing for more than 10 years and looks to share his passion for beer and pizza while making new friends.

Robert Zitsch

Among his several interests which include farming, gardening and beekeeping, is a long-standing interest in discovering new brands and styles of craft brews. Partnering with Bill, Andrew and Carrie to produce and deliver a variety of unique beers and good food was a great opportunity to share an exceptional experience with others in our community.

Andrew Welsh

President & Managing Partner of Marceline Pizza Company & MPC2 Executive Chef

Andrew Welsh, a native of Elmhurst, IL and a current resident of Marceline MO. Andrew, has been in the restaurant industry for many years but of course all chef careers normally started in one place, moms kitchen… leaning how to cook eggs. His grandmothers were also huge influences in the kitchen as well. Whether it was on the plains of Oklahoma or in the northern woods of Wisconsin, that is where the culinary seed was planted for Andrew, or as his friends call him “Drew”. From that start and after several kitchen jobs in various locations he, Andrew, wound up amongst the hallowed halls and kitchens of Kendall College, in Evanston IL. It was at that culinary program where honed his skills. Andrew has worked in some of the finest country clubs in the nation as well as at other privatized companies that utilized his culinary experience. Drew and his wife Carrie moved down to Marceline in 2019 and opened the Marceline Pizza Company in October of 2022. Through 2019 and 2022 there have been many trials and tribulations but that did not stop Andrew and his wife from building their dream and building their future… Their future is built upon Woodfire Pizza and Chicago Deep Dish. When Trail Stop Brewery reached out to Andrew and his wife this was a non-issue. Andrew cannot wait to bring Woodfire Pizza and Chicago Deep Dish Pizza to Columbia MO… and what a perfect pairing. Pizza, Beer… and Pickleball. The perfect trifecta! Who could ask for more? We hope you enjoy.

Carrie Welsh

Vice President & Managing Partner of Marceline Pizza Company & MPC2 Social Media Director, Wine Somm

Carrie Welsh, a native of River Forest, IL via the Chicago North Side… for which she now lives in Marceline, MO. For those not in the know Marceline is the land of the man behind the mouse, Walt Disney. Carrie has worked in the restaurant industry for longer than she’d like to say… but it’s been long enough to claim that she has risen through the ranks of the restaurant industry, which is an industry not for the faint of heart, in fine fashion. Carrie has worked in various fine dining restaurants & jazz clubs, country clubs and managed one of the finest wine shops in the western suburbs of Chicago. Carrie also managed a local bistro in Rocheport, MO for 3 years through the COVID-19 pandemic. Having been noted as a soldier of the wine world and with her great palate Carrie has received her Somm Certification through the Master Court of Somms. Her latest professional project has her and her husband opening the Marceline Pizza Company, which opened in October of 2022. Marceline Pizza Company provides a very unique experience providing Woodfire Pizza and Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. She is very happy to be able to expand to the Columbia area and bring their pizza to this urban area. Trail Stop Brewery is the perfect pairing for this next venture and she cannot wait to see what the future brings!
